History & Accomplishments

Habitat for Humanity of Columbus, NE grew out of the Leadership Columbus class that saw a need for affordable housing in Columbus. Habitat for Humanity partners with people in the community to help build a place someone can call home. Home buyers build alongside volunteers and then purchase the home for an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Our simple homes provide better living conditions, decrease student academic and behavior issues for school age children, lessen medical issues and helps eliminate families having to make hard financial decisions.

HFH of Columbus had dedicated nine single-family homes and the New Hope Addition changing the lives of more than 30 people. Changes that benefit us all. We bring together more than 300 volunteers annually who dedicate thousands of volunteer hours to those who need a hand up in this world. We want to develop a community so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God’s love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

We partner or work with thirty different corporations around the area. Habitat also partners with the Columbus Public Schools After School Program, sponsors New Hope Garden, and Seekers of Serenity Garden. Our investment has also increased the Platte County property tax base revenue by more than $50,000.
